La millor terreta del món! (The best little land in the world)
This blog post is a very special one, and that’s why I asked my dear friend Walter to save me the November 2 slot to publish it.
So, what makes it so special? Since a picture is worth a thousand words, let’s start with the image:
Experiencing such an important event for mobile virtual network operators as MVNO Nation Live, in such a breathtaking setting, right at the foot of Puig Campana, the second-highest peak in the province of Alicante, is truly unforgettable. Together with the Serra Gelada, seen in the background of the photo, these mountains give Benidorm a unique microclimate that delights not only our British and other Western Europe friends but also visitors from across Central and Eastern Europe, including Lithuania, Ukraine, and Russia or the north of Africa coming from Algerie.
Benidorm’s microclimate is largely due to the natural protection provided by the surrounding mountains, Serra Gelada, Puig Campana, and Tossal, which shield the area from cold and rainy fronts coming from the north, east, and west. In addition, its south-facing beaches enjoy warmer conditions, while the Mediterranean Sea adds humidity and softens temperatures. As a result, Benidorm enjoys over 300 days of sunshine per year, mild average temperatures, and less rainfall than the rest of the province, making it a truly unique, temperate, and sunny destination almost all year round.
For my colleagues who occasionally check my stories, the trails of both mountains might look familiar, trekking along their slopes or ridges, with the sea in the distance and panoramic views of the city below, is simply unmatched, isn’t it?
Of course, it’s not all about the mountains. Most visitors come for the beach and the vibrant city life. And yes, there it is, the “Manhattan of the Mediterranean”, with the highest concentration of skyscrapers in Spain, lively beaches full of energy, and endless activities, like the famous Cable Ski, where we all take our fair share of belly flops every summer!
Thank you Emma for the lovely photo!
The Venue!
And what can I say about the venue… Could it be just a coincidence that it’s being held so close to my home base? I can only celebrate that, of course!
The location is truly paradise, a luxury hotel with ample parking, a golf course, and, most importantly, stunning views of both the mountains and the city. It’s only 5–10 minutes from the city center and is simply the perfect setting for a convention of this kind.
It’s a pity that Mr. Antonio Pérez Pérez, Mayor of Benidorm, who had kindly offered to welcome the attendees, won’t be able to join us due to other commitments abroad. But let’s not forget, Benidorm is a top-tier international tourist destination, so his busy schedule is more than understandable! We hope that this event will be repeated in this fantastic setting and that you can join us at future events.
Nevertheless we are happy to welcome Susana Bañuelos and Alicia Juan Samper dean and manager respectively of the College of Telecommunications Engineers of the Valencian Community, who supported us in promoting the event within our community, our sincere gratitude.
The Event!
The event spans three days, and I have to say, Ewa Campbell and Ela Lewczuk (co-founders) have done an outstanding job putting together a truly engaging agenda. have really done an outstanding job putting together a truly engaging agenda.
We’ll be there for all three days, not only networking with colleagues from around the world, but also supporting our partners participating in the event: Summa Networks, a leading core solutions vendor, alongside Javier Martín and Guadalupe Guzmán; as well as Digitalk and Cirrus Core Networks. You can find my mention of these dear friends below.
The first day is dedicated to Innovation & Differentiation.
It starts with “Driving the Future of MVNO Innovation,” featuring keynotes on building next-generation MVNOs and differentiating value propositions and services, a topic I recently discussed in a webinar where I was invited by some of the sponsors of both MVNO Nation and MVNO Index, such as CCN.
Another highlight focuses on one of the aspects that plays a key role in my daily work, the customer and their experience, explored in the session “Innovating Through Customer Experience.”, and digitalization in: “How MVNOs Are Embracing Digitalisation to Transform Customer Journeys and Expand Connectivity” with my dear Paul Bassa don’t miss to pay a visit to Digitalk booth where you can also meet our friendly Pino Jalil.
And, of course, we couldn’t miss the hot topic of artificial intelligence and its impact on new digital MVNOs, with sessions like “Digital Services Talks on AI-Powered MVNOs.”
I’m particularly interested in how AI is being applied to marketing strategies to reduce churn and boost loyalty, just like SourseAI demonstrates in “Building Scalable, Loyal MVNO Businesses.”
The second day is dedicated to “Business Improvement & Efficiency Through New Technologies & Partnerships.”
Key topics include “How MVNOs Can Embrace Cloud, AI, and Next-Gen Networks”, and one of the most essential themes of all: the relationship between MVNOs and MNOs, explored in “Next-Gen MVNO–MNO Partnerships: Building Win-Win Models for Sustainable Growth.”
As I mentioned in my last blog post, “If you don’t do it now, your competitor will.”, in that article I mention Vodafone, and we will have the opportunity to meet there my great friends Maribel and Luis as well as many other Operators.
A pleasant surprise for me was discovering some huge vendors presence at the event like HPE, MVNO Nation is really rocketing 🚀!
And, of course, we’ll hear repeated references to the hot topic of the moment, AI, with sessions like “All Future Telcos Will Be AI Telcos” and “AI for MVNOs: The Practical Playbook.”
Other sessions will address solutions inspired by an increasingly global and mobile world, such as:
- “Reimagining Roaming – Innovating MVNO Strategies Through Smarter Global Agreements”
- “eSIM as a Strategic Advantage for MVNOs – More Than a Technology, a Foundation for Agility”
- and the “eSIM Exchange Debate: Differentiating Your MVNO with eSIMs and Strategic Partnerships for Global Connectivity – How to Tap into the Travel Market in 2025 and Beyond?”
I can’t wait to see the day when an MVNO launches an eSIM with lunar coverage, now that intergalactic travel seems closer than ever! 🚀
They haven’t forgotten about IoT either! Hmm… May I suggest to contact with Netquori on the list of IoT MVNOs in the MVNO Index, it’s a pity that Matti or Juan couldn’t attend this congress, so let’s see who else shows up at the sessions “Debate: Unlocking IoT Scalability for MVNOs” and “IoT Working Group: Innovative Business Models for eSIM and IoT-Focused MVNOs.”
And finally, as usually said last but not least, third day with especial focus on Building a new ecosystem with MVNOs and for MVNOs
You can’t miss this day topics! The most important step to launch a MVNO is to secure a MNO or MVNE contract, and overall don’t miss it because I (promoting myself 😂) will participating on Opportunities for MVNOs in the Expanding LATAM Ecosystem, representing my partner Cirrus Core Networks, also participating with a booth where you can meet Jim, and and many others like the one dedicated to Most Innovative Service Offering, with Estefanía García participation among many others.
Most importantly: why you shouldn’t miss it!
Unlike many other major conferences, such as MWC organized by the GSMA, ITW, or DTW Ignite (organized by TM Forum), which take a broader, more general approach, MVNO Nation Live brings together the key global players in the MVNO ecosystem: MVNOs, MNOs, vendors, consultants, and often even regulators.
The organizers have wisely expanded the concept to other parts of the world, hosting MVNO Nation USA in Miami and MVNO Nation Africa in Cape Town, while keeping MVNO Nation Live as the grand finale of the year for the global MVNO community. This event helps us plan for the year ahead with a clear, updated view of the latest trends shaping our industry.
Without a doubt, the true key to its success is networking, the main objective of these three days. It’s all about meeting as many experts as possible, attending well-focused presentations, and avoiding the overwhelming crowds of larger conventions. The setup allows participants to visit the various exhibitors at a relaxed pace, without the stress typical of massive events.
Although this article is signed by me, Santiago, my team will also be there, learning, like I do, from the best professionals in the industry, and happy to assist the organization however we can, given our proximity to the event.
And to wrap up, I can only say… welcome, bienvenue, willkommen, benvenuti, bienvenidos, welkom, bemVindo, välkommen, tervetuloa, velkommen, yōkoso, huānyíng, dobroPozhalovat, witamy, selamatDatang, sveikiAtvyke, karibu, merhaba, ahlanWaSahlan, hosgeldiniz, namaste
To conclude, I hope you will forgive me for not being able to mention everyone. There are so many colleagues and friends whose names would fill several pages.
MVNOs party does no ends here!
I promise to share some insights after the event, but I’ll need a bit of time, as it looks like I’m living out of a suitcase for the next few weeks!✈️
It’s non-stop these days, after MVNO Nation Live in Benidorm, I’ll head to Africa Tech Festival in Cape Town, then the following week to ACUTELAN in Granada, and just a few days later to Madrid for a Year-End Wrap-Up and New Year Kickoff with one of my partners.
Not much chance to get bored! 😅
And I’ll do my best to attend MVNO Nation USA 2026 and MVNO Nation Africa next year, don’t miss those either!
